The Hoquei+ team is a testament to the club’s dedication to inclusion. The team provides a safe, supportive space for players with intellectual disabilities to learn, grow, and find a sense of identity. In this environment, each individual is celebrated for their differences and the talents they bring to the team. Here, each player is empowered to shine, both on and off the field.
This focus on happiness and inclusion is what drives the Hoquei+ team. In such a positive environment, players are free to be the best, unique version of themselves.
“I think it’s about happiness. Players can thrive regardless of their skills. It doesn’t matter what disability you have, it doesn’t matter the degree, as long as you want to play, you’re welcome,” Gina said.
For Gina, this inclusivity is essential to the team’s values, not only in how they play but how they interact with each other.
“I think it’s beautiful that they can have this space, that they’re one of us. And everything related to leadership, we’re all equal, there are no differences between anyone,” Gina said. “Whether you’re a senior or a beginner, everyone has the same goals.”
Laura Grau has been a player on the Hoquei+ team for many years. Along with meeting wonderful people, Laura states that some of her proudest moments come from the tournaments she’s gotten to go on.

“I’ve gone to many championships with the Spanish national team, and I’m proud of that. I’ve been to many tournaments,” Laura said.
Most notably, along with a sense of pride, the players have developed confidence and life skills throughout their time on the team. Martina, also a player on the Hoquei+ team, noticed this growth first hand.
“Well, I struggle with relationships, but little by little, I’m learning,” Martina said. “Also, I gained confidence in myself because I didn’t have much confidence in myself [before], and little by little, I built confidence with my teammates too.”
The Hoquei+ team shows the power of inclusion. By providing a space where every player can grow and thrive, it creates a sense of family for CHC that extends far beyond the field. With continued support for each other and the acceptance shown to everyone, CHC hopes to continue to grow their family for all players.
