Our history

Catalònia Hoquei Club was founded in 2004 thanks to the initiative of a group of families and a physical education teacher passionate about hockey. It all started very humbly when a small group of students began playing field hockey under the guidance of this teacher, a former player for the Argentine national team. When the school where they were training closed its activities, the families and the teacher decided to join forces to create what is now our club.

From that moment on, Catalònia Hoquei Club started to grow. Over time, we incorporated more players, more categories, and more projects. We moved to the Pau Negre Sports Complex in Montjuïc, an iconic location in Barcelona with privileged views, and since then, we haven't stopped growing.

One of our greatest achievements has been bringing our first teams to compete in the Division of Honor B, the second-highest field hockey league in Spain. This has been an important step in consolidating the club. At the same time, we have seen players trained in our academy being called up to the Catalan National Team, a recognition of the talent and work developed in our club.

We are also proud to have a representative from Catalònia who has stood out internationally in the world of the Special Olympics, where she has been a champion and has carried our club's name with pride around the world.

Additionally, the club has developed a hockey academy that works with boys and girls of all ages, from pre-junior to cadet categories. The training of young players not only focuses on the sporting aspect but also on values such as respect, effort, and teamwork.

Our club is more than a hockey team. It is a space for learning and values, where we promote respect, equality, effort, and teamwork. We are a family and inclusive organization where both children and adults can find their place, both on and off the field.

Our core values are respect, equality, commitment, and self-improvement. We believe that hockey is a tool for shaping people, not just players. Through our sport, we teach teamwork, perseverance, and respect for others — values that our players carry with them throughout their lives.

Inclusion and Hoquei+ programs

Inclusion and Hoquei+ programs

Catalònia Hoquei Club is committed to inclusion and we offer specific programs. Our Hoquei+ program is a project that allows people with disabilities to enjoy field hockey.

We believe that sport is for everyone, and that is why, with the help of specialized coaches, we have created a space where everyone can practice, compete, and above all, enjoy the sport without barriers. We are particularly proud of this program as it reflects our commitment to equal opportunities and social inclusion.

Collaboration with schools

Collaboration with schools

Our collaboration with schools is another of our fundamental pillars. We organize extracurricular activities in several schools in Barcelona, where we introduce hockey to the youngest. This collaboration allows us to bring the sport closer to children who otherwise would not have the opportunity to experience it.

Through our classes and workshops, we not only teach sports techniques but also instill values such as effort, solidarity, and discipline. We have seen how many of these children, after being introduced to hockey at school, have joined the club and continued their path as players.
