Academy, Papis and the road to Rotterdam
Weekend recap of May 15–17, 2026 at Catalònia HC, with strong academy performances, the Papis finishing fifth in Catalonia and three players selected for the Rotterdam Masters World Cup.

With the senior teams’ season already finished, this weekend featured fewer matches, but still plenty of positive stories for Catalònia HC.
At academy level, the weekend brought very good feelings. The Girls’ U14 team drew against Athletic Terrassa Groc, currently third in the standings, in a match where the players controlled three of the four quarters and looked capable of taking the victory. The team reacted well after conceding the equaliser and continues to show strong competitive growth.
Meanwhile, the Girls’ Cadet team secured an important 1–3 away win against Línia 22 in a very physical and intense match. The result allows them to climb one position in the standings and approach the final two league matches with great confidence.
The academy continues to compete, improve and demonstrate week after week the strong future that lies ahead for the club.

The Papis closed the season by securing a deserved fifth place in the Catalan Championship after defeating Polo Rosso in the shootouts. Following a dramatic 3–3 draw in the first leg under heavy rain at Pau Negre, the return match at Polo ended 1–1 and had to be decided in the shootouts.
Manuela Barranco’s team delivered a disciplined and serious performance, with goalkeeper José producing a spectacular display and proving decisive in the final shootout. Juancho scored once again and Pieter sealed the victory. A great way to close the season for a group that continues to grow both on and off the field.
Beyond competition, this week also brought very special news for the club. Catalònia HC will be represented at the 2026 Masters Hockey World Cup in Rotterdam by three club players.
María Parma will represent the club in the +45 category, while María Fernanda Genta and Laura Formento will compete in the +50 and +50 Spirit categories. All three players have spent recent months travelling regularly to Madrid for training camps at the High Performance Centre, and this weekend they received confirmation of their final selection.
A huge source of pride for Catalònia to see club players representing the Spanish national team on the world stage.
