This weekend was different. Perhaps with a bit less hockey, but with much more of the Catalònia family. On Saturday, the senior teams celebrated the traditional Christmas dinner at La Venta, an event that has become a must in the club’s calendar. This year, it also featured a very special first-time highlight: the first-ever CHC Awards, created to recognise everything that makes a dressing room great beyond results.
The Rookie of the Year award, which recognises the senior player (with a maximum of two seasons at senior level) who has made a strong impact within the team — not only through sporting performance but also attitude, commitment and the ability to contribute from day one — had two clear names: Emma Tiscornia, winner of the award, and Nacho De La Fuente, runner-up.
The Meme of the Year award, recognising the most iconic, viral and unforgettable person of the season — legendary looks, iconic phrases or moments that are now part of dressing-room history — went to Jaime Tiscornia, followed at a distance by Manuela Barranco. Because not everything is about goals: some moments last forever.
Finally, the Smile of the Year award, recognising the person who brings good vibes, optimism and positive energy throughout the season, was won by Clàudia Lleó, closely followed by Àlex Fernández and Marc Valls.
The night ended the way great nights always do: players helping other players get into taxis, photos in nightclub mirrors, endless laughter and smiles that will last forever. As every year, moments like these make us even more of a family.
From a sporting point of view, it is worth highlighting the defeat suffered by the Papis, who lost against what is probably the toughest opponent in the league. Even so, nothing is tarnished: the season they are having is outstanding and one defeat changes nothing. The absence of Juanjo De La Fuente due to a hand injury weighs heavily, but the message is clear: keep working and move forward.
The women’s first team were knocked out in the semifinals of the Federation Cup by Junior de Sant Cugat, a true bogey team for César Javier’s squad. Now it’s time to get back up, because big things are coming in January and the goal is to fight our way back to a Final Four.

Both Second Women’s teams picked up points to close the year. The Second Orange struggled to find the net despite being the better side, while the Second Blue had to fight back after an early mistake and rescued a draw in the final minutes thanks to a great goal by Mica Conte. Both teams remain very much alive in the standings with all playoff options intact.
In Second Men’s Division, the Blue team could not overcome a very experienced Sarrià in a typically tough match. The Orange team, on the other hand, arguably played their best game of the season at Pau Negre against a very strong Linea 22. After conceding the equaliser in the final quarter, the team reacted well and Sebas’ goal three minutes from time secured three golden points for a group that has clearly grown from less to more.
Friday was the Mamis’ turn, who celebrated their Christmas dinner — a moment to share everything experienced throughout the year and take stock together. Competitively, they also faced demanding matches. In their own words: a very tough 9v9 game against Polo, league leaders, but fighting until the very end. Special mention to their coach Helen, whose energy and instructions helped the team compete and even dream of an equaliser.

At academy level, the weekend brought many reasons to be proud. In indoor hockey, the Girls’ Cadet team finished the group stage as group winners and will play the final this Saturday, while the boys ended the league in third and fourth place.
The Girls’ Junior team earned a strong 1–0 win against Junior, showing solidity and competitive maturity. The Boys’ U12 team recorded a big win against Sitges, and the U10 team also secured a clear victory. These categories are reaching cruising speed and improving day by day, both individually and collectively.
In addition, it is important to highlight the call-up of Emma Fàbregas and Raquel Rodríguez to the Catalan U15 national team (ARC) this past Friday. A huge recognition of their work, consistency and talent. We are very proud of them.
A different weekend, but a necessary one. A weekend that reminds us that Catalònia HC is much more than hockey: it is people, it is family, it is sharing and growing together.
