An Eternal Team

Special recap of the 2024–25 season of Catalònia HC’s women’s first team: an exemplary journey that culminated in a grand final.

From the first match in September to the grand final in May, the Catalònia HC women’s first team has had a memorable season. With passion, effort, and unity, this team made us vibrate week after week. The road to the final of the Catalan First Division wasn’t easy, but it was full of hope. And on Sunday, despite the 3–1 loss to RC Polo, the overwhelming feeling was one of absolute pride.

The match didn’t start well: one of the team’s key players, Fàtima, was unable to play, and Polo took the lead very early with a penalty corner. Even so, the stands were packed (organizers counted more than 200 supporters) and our players fought with all their heart. With a 2–0 score at halftime, the team didn’t give up. A goal from Martu in the second half reignited hope, but in the final minutes, with the whole team attacking, the final 3–1 came.

The defeat hurts, but the journey makes us great. This team is eternal.

The 2024–2025 season will go down as one of the most outstanding. The team finished among the best, beating strong opponents and leaving their mark both on and off the field. A highlight was the semifinal win over Castelldefels — the regular season champions — in a thrilling tie decided by shootouts.

Throughout the year, we saw the arrival of young talents like Paula Canals and Emma Tiscornia — both of whom played in the final — and support from youth players such as Elsa Ribas and Maria Parma. Let’s not forget Fran Pierini (on Erasmus) and Jana Lleó, who was sidelined with injury during the first half of the season. This team became a true family.

Also essential members of the squad: Fàtima Abdul Mesih and Paula Cid Balcells, who played a key role during the semifinal and throughout the season.

All of them made this unforgettable year possible.

With César Javier expertly leading the team on the pitch and Nacu González keeping them physically and mentally sharp all season, the coaching staff has been key to reaching this level. This season has been a true show of commitment, competitive quality, and club spirit. From the bench to the stands, we’ve all made Catalònia.

Thank you, eternal ones.
